CPM will fund election expense of its candidates, says Ramakrishnan
Chennai: CPI (M) state secretary G. Ramakrishnan on Monday said that his party would consider publishing income returns filed by his party MLAs to the party every year on its website. “Our party MLAs submit their income returns to the party every year,” he told reporters after releasing his party’s list of candidates for the 25 seats.
When asked whether his party would publish the income returns on their party website to ensure transparency, he said that his party would consider it. He also said that in his party, the contesting candidates should not spend their own money for the election campaign. “The party will fully fund the election campaign expense for the all 25 candidates,” he said, adding that the candidates who gets elected as MLA should handover their salary to the party and they would be paid the same wages as full time party worker.
For the election campaign, Mr Ramakrishnan said that party’s national leaders including general secretary Sitaram Yechury, politburo members Prakash Karat and Brinda Karat and Tirupura chief minister Manik Sarkar would campaign in the state. He said that the DMDK-PWA-TMC alliance is facing the polls in plank of eradication corruption, providing transparent governance, ending caste atrocities and coalition government.
