Telangana cops are playing to TRS’ tunes: Uttam
HYDERABAD: Under the TRS regime led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, the police department is completely playing to the tunes of the ruling party and not abiding by any rules, leading to serious deterioration in the law and order situation in the state, Congress MP and former TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said here on Monday.
Stating that the police department used to be professional and enjoyed a good reputation during the united Andhra Pradesh era, the senior Congress leader alleged that IPS officers have started to put on sale posts for sub-inspectors (SIs), inspectors and SHOs by collecting huge amounts under the direction of Chief Minister Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also blamed the police officers for violating rules in registering cases in genuine incidents.
Telangana police have completely failed to act in cases invovling ruling party leaders and their family mebers, including failing to arrest the mastermind being the ghastly daylight murder of an advocate couple, Vamana Rao murder case, and two deaths by suicide owing to harassment, of a mother and son in Kamareddy, and of a rival party activist harrassed and pushed to death by a TRS MLA’s son, in Khammam.
“The Khammam police registered a fake case against Congress party counsellor Mustafa. Subsequently, the court dismissed the case. Police have registered a false case against one Gopi Goud in Huzurnagar. I requested the police not to register false cases but police cancelled the case against Gopi Goud after he joined Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) party,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s newpher and MP J. Santosh Kumar played a key role in transferring police officers by influencing IPS officers.
Even TRS party MLAs demanded huge amounts for giving postings to police officers, Mr Reddy said. All MLAs misused police, influencing them politically and bringing a bad image to the police department, he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded that police officers take stern action against Telangana Rashtra Samiti leaders for harassing Santosh and her mother Padma in Kamareddy and Ramayampet.
