ANANTAPUR: The Telugu Desam high command is considering the candidature of Dr N. Sunitha, deceased former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter, from Kadapa Lok Sabha segment for next year’s general elections.
A group of TD leaders from Kadapa proposed her candidature and party president Chandrababu Naidu reacted to this positively as “she is fighting a lone battle against the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s and Y.S. Avinash Reddy families” in Kadapa, party sources said.
However, party sources pointed out that the CBI investigation into the Viveka murder case has reached a crucial stage. Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy had blamed Chandrababu Naidu for influencing Sunitha and prompting the CBI to go against his family.
A senior TD leader told Deccan Chronicle, "There was no discussion at the party’s zonal level meeting and other in-camera meetings in Kadapa. Our party has sympathy for Sunitha as a woman fighting for justice. Any decision on her political entry can wait as the case is currently at a peak stage."
He recalled that the YSRC gained political benefit by blaming the TD for the Vivekanda Reddy death but the party has decided to highlight the Viveka murder case in the 'praja court'.
