Congress Plans Bus Yatra to Showcase Unity in Party
HYDERABAD: Congress leaders will undertake a bus yatra across the state to project a united face and bolster the party prospects. A final decision towards this will be taken by its political affairs committee.
The bus yatra decision was taken at a meeting in the residence of star campaigner Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to discuss the party’s future course of action.
Later, briefing the media, Komatireddy said, “We will not give assurances that we cannot honour. All petty differences among us will be settled and set aside. Illegal cases are being foisted against our workers. We never misused the police the way BRS leadership is doing. Only K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family have flourished in Telangana.”
On allegations that Congress leaders had insulted BCs, Komatireddy said, “Our PCC president did not abuse BCs. We have BC leaders like D. Srinivas, Damodar Rajanarasimha and Ponnala Lakshmaiah, to name just a few. Mahesh Kumar Goud is the incumbent working president.”
AICC member Sampath Kumar said, “We discussed the strategy to be adopted and decided to hold a PAC meeting soon. It was decided to invite Priyanka Gandhi for the meeting in Kollapur on July 30. BRS is losing support at the grass-root level and BJP’s graph has fallen drastically. We will capitalise on this situation.”
Those who attended the meeting included Manikrao Thakre, Rohit Chaudhary, A. Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, Sampath Kumar, Mahesh Kumar Goud, Anil Kumaa Yadav, Damodara Rajanarasimha, Jupally Krishna Rao, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu.
