Hyderabad: “We will storm the Pragathi Bhavan along with lakhs of youth if the DSC notification for recruitment of teachers is not issued within a week,” warned Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy here on Tuesday.
Writing an open letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, he asked, “What is happening in the state which was achieved after much struggle? Water, funds, and jobs were the core issues of the agitation. Projects which were started during our regime have been left as is. The state has accumulated excess debt by resorting to wasteful expenditure. The less said about jobs the better. How many notifications were given in Telangana state in the last nine years? The negligence has been more pronounced when it comes to teacher posts.”
Reeling out the statistics on the number of youth who are awaiting notifications for teaching jobs, he said, “Students who had cleared the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) are awaiting a job. The first TET was held on May 22, 2016. Of the 88,158 who attended Paper-1, 48,278 cleared the exam. Of the 2,51,924 who wrote Paper-2, 63,079 cleared it. The second TET was held in July 23, 2017. While Paper-1 saw 98,848 take the test, 56,708 cleared it. For Paper-2, of the 2,30,932 who wrote the test 45,045 cleared it. The third TET was held on June 12, 2020. Of the 3.18 lakh who took the test 1,04,578 cleared it. The Paper-2 was written by 2,50,897 and 1,24,535 cleared it. Every year 12,500 are studying DEd and 15,000 are completing the BEd course.”
The MP said that the Chief Minister had announced that he would fill up vacant posts of teachers in December 2020 but that has not materialised till date.
“There have been no teacher recruitments for five years now. In the united state, the AP government had held the TET test once every six months and issued DSC notification once in two years once. Aspirants who have been preparing are ageing awaiting jobs in the state. The governments should wake up at least now and issue notifications. If the government does not issue notifications in a week we will storm Pragathi Bhavan,” he warned
