Teegala Reddy Meets Thakre, Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA and Hyderabad mayor Teegala Krishna Reddy and his niece, ZP chairman Teegala Anita Reddy, are expected to join the Congress following a reported meeting with AICC incharge Manikrao Thakre and TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday.
Sources said that Krishna Reddy was looking to switch parties as his demand for a BRS ticket from the Maheswaram constituency seemed unlikely to be met, given that Sabitha Reddy, who won the previous election and was later inducted into the BRS and the state Cabinet, is likely to be fielded from there.
Besides the duo, sources indicated that a few BJP leaders were also set to join the Congress. Although most of them denied a planned switch in party allegiance, the Congress is encouraging former MLC Kapilvai Dileep Kumar and Rama Rao, of Mudhole, to join its ranks.
TPCC president Revanth Reddy is leaving for Delhi on Wednesday to facilitate the induction of former MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy, Gadwal ZP chairperson Saritha, former chairperson Radha and Sunil Reddy, of Orange Travels fame from Balkonda, into the party. They are expected to join the party in the presence of Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, BRS leaders from the Suryapet constituency on Tuesday joined the Congress in the presence of Revanth Reddy. These include former market committee chairpersons Peddireddy Raja and Nerella Madhu, former market committee director Rambabu and former councillors, from Suryapet town, Suryapet rural, Penpahad, Atmakur and Chivvemla mandals.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth said, “While minister Jagadish Reddy is claiming that they are providing 24-hour power, the CMD Prabhakar Rao is saying that they are providing single phase power only for households. Doesn’t the minister know what is happening in his ministry? Has the minister ever reviewed the 24-hour free power scheme? The minister should resign for failing to pay salaries to power company employees in time.”
Meanwhile, Congress leaders Manikrao Thakre, Revanth Reddy, Bhatti Vikramarka and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy held a meeting at MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s house to discuss more inductions into the party.
