Telangana Congress Leaders Reach Out to 119 Assembly Constituencies

The message they say was received with utmost enthusiasm by people and evinced confidence that the party would ride home to power in polls

Hyderabad: Heeding the call given by the Congress Working Committee (CWC), party leaders on Tuesday started fanning out to constituencies across the state to create awareness about the six guarantees announced at the Vijayabheri meeting in Tukkuguda on Sunday.

Leaders said voters in most constituencies received their message enthusiastically, evincing confidence in the Congress repeating the Karnataka Assembly election result in Telangana too.

Charging Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family of controlling 11 ministries, CWC member Gurudeep Singh and adviser to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who visited Sangareddy, said, “I assure that we will implement our promises once we come to power in the state. The BJP, which had demanded special status for Andhra Pradesh when the Telangana Bill was passed, failed to keep its word for that state. Only KCR’s family has benefitted with the formation of a separate state. The meeting at Tukkuguda has been a roaring success. We will remove Dharani once we come to power in the state and replace it without a better website. Petrol prices will be reduced.”

“Every woman will get Rs 2,500 per month. Gas cylinders will be given for Rs 500 from the present Rs 1,000. Rs 5 lakh will be given to the homeless for construction of houses. Sir (Gurudeep Singh) is explaining what was conveyed to the people by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Kharge at the Tukkuguda meeting,” Sangareddy MLA Jagga Reddy, who was accompanying Gurudeep Singh, told the public.

While the campaign was largely smooth, one-upmanship was witnessed at a few places, like in Husnabad, where supporters of Ponnam Prabhakar and Praveen Reddy — both of whom are vying for an Assembly seat from there — came to blows.

Social media chairperson for AICC Supriya Shrinate visited Jangaon and distributed the ‘abhaya hastam’ literature to the residents there and explained the six guarantees to the residents.

“Sonia, who delivered Telangana, has personally given these guarantees. 200 units power will be given to all eligible families. Rs 15,000 will be given to farmers and Rs 12,000 to farm labourers per year as Rythu Bandhu. Rs 4,000 to the poor per month and bus service will be free to all women. The Karnataka government is giving what we promised we will deliver here also,” Shrinate said.

Jangaon DCC president Kommuri Pratap Reddy, who accompanied Shrinate, told people: “The promises made in Karnataka are being implemented now. We had kept our promises earlier in the YSR government and implemented 24 hours free power for farmers.”
