Hyderabad: Putting in his two pennyworths on the visit of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to the state, BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy said the Congress leaders had no moral right to enter Telangana or seek votes.
Addressing a gathering of party workers after inducting new members in the presence of organising committee chairman Etala Rajendar and national committee member Vivek Venkataswamy at the party office here on Wednesday, Kishan Reddy said that Congress leaders were looting Karnataka to fund their elections in Telangana.
“How can AICC leader Rahul Gandhi come and seek votes from the people of Telangana? The same Congress, which was responsible for injustice in water, funds and jobs that led to the separate statehood agitation. As many as 369 agitators were killed by the Congress during the 1969 Telangana movement. About 1,200 youths had to sacrifice their lives as the Congress delayed the formation of Telangana. The Congress leadership has no moral right to visit the state,” the Union minister said.
Not sparing the ruling BRS, Kishan Reddy said the state government failed in fulfilling its promises and meeting the aspirations of the people, relying on money power to win polls.
“The BRS has failed to implement promises like double bedroom houses to the poor, loan waiver to farmers, Dalit Bandhu, Girijan Bandhu and three acres to Dalits. The 25-paise interest loan to Self Help Groups (SHGs), absence of fee reimbursement to students and Aarogyasri to the needy are not being given. A silent wave is on in the state in favour of the BJP and people are veering towards the party in the coming elections,” said Kishan Reddy.
He also accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of “backstabbing the unemployed” by failing to hold the recruitment examinations properly.
Accusing both the Congress and the BRS of being family-centric parties, Kishan Reddy said that corruption has reached a high under Chandrashekar Rao’s rule. “The Congress has failed to implement the ‘guarantees’ it had promised in Karnataka to the people before elections. The Congress government in Karnataka is imposing huge taxes on the public and collecting money from the people to fund elections in Telangana,” he said.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been offering a corruption-free governance; we will walk the talk. We will bring ‘Sakala Janula Telangana’ in the state,” Kishan Reddy said.
Vivek Venkataswamy said that Kandula Sandhya Rani, a ZPTC member from Palakurthi who joined the party, participated in the separate Telangana agitation and her joining will strengthen the party.
Sandhya Rani said that a silent revolution has been taking place in the state and people have decided to vote the BJP to power in the state.
