KCR Wasted Public Money on Kaleshwaram: Bhatti

HYDERABAD: CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had wasted huge public money in the name of redesigning of irrigation projects; he had done so get kickbacks from contractors.
Addressing a public meeting in Peddapalli on Thursday, Bhatti said Congress designed Pranahita-Chevella project to irrigate North and South Telangana districts, at a cost of Rs 28,000 crore. Chandrashekar Rao redesigned it as the Kaleshwaram project on which the government spent Rs 1.25 lakh crore. Despite this, Rao had failed to irrigate a single additional acre.

He said that farmers in Peddapalli constituency were irrigating two lakh acres due to the Sriramsagar project constructed by Jawaharlal Nehru. "They are raising paddy due to the SRSP project and not Kaleshwaram. Whatever irrigation facilities the farmers are enjoying today is because of the projects constructed by the Congress governments such as SRSP, Kadem, Devadula and Yellampally," Bhatti said.

He accused the BRS government of borrowing Rs 5 lakh crore in the name of constructing irrigating projects but failing to create additional irrigated area. Bhatti called upon voters to teach a the BRS a fitting lesson for wasting public money.
