Three Telugu Political Movies Lined Up for November

Hyderabad: Politics is the art of influencing people’s opinion… to win power. When it is about influencing people’s minds, how could movie-makers stay away in an election season? Ever since independence, politicians have been using cinema to propagate their views and ideology to people. Following the same tradition, three movies are going to hit the silver screen in the election season.

The movies that are going to be released in November are not only expected to entertain people but also stimulate discussion and debate and influence others and win them over.

One of the three movies is directed by Ram Gopal Varma. It is focused on the life of AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the challenges he faced. It is a kind of biographical movie that shows how Jagan Mohan Reddy plans his political moves and also depicts TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu as a failure.

Another movie that is in the offing is produced by Addanki Dayakar, a prominent Congress leader. “The movie explores themes such as Sanatana Dharma, religion, the DNA of Coronavirus and the politics of the BJP,” said Dayakar, adding that it would have an anti-government narrative and would seek to encourage democratic principles among people.

The movie also aims to tell youngsters on the importance of preserving the Constitution and democracy. It is going to be released in the second week of November.

The third movie, produced by Telangana BJP leader Guduru Narayan Reddy, focuses on the atrocities of Razakars, and highlights the determination of people in fighting them. Titled ‘Razakar: The Silent Genocide of Hyderabad,’ it has already turned controversial.

The public has a varied opinion on these distinct movies.

D.N. Laxman, a student, says that the BJP’s leader’s movie appears appeared to be more promising than that of the Congress, which he labelled a political flop.

“There's a chance that some people, who disagree, might try to stop or ban the movie, similar to what occurred with the movie on ‘love jihad’. However, if the idea connects with the audience, it might be difficult to prevent its success,” he said.

According to some youngsters, RGV's movie, with its rather critical portrayal of Chandrababu Naidu, might not help Jagan Mohan Reddy, said Bhargav Konde.

According to Rajiv Sudhan, the Congress’ professed commitment to protecting constitutional rights and democracy contradicts their agenda, which, according to him, “mostly appears to attack the Hindu community.”
