Be Careful of Snake, Stray Dog KCR: Revanth

Revanth said the Congress would prevent acquisition for setting up industrial zones here if voted to power

KAMAREDDY: TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, who will go head-to-head with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in the Kamareddy constituency in the November 30 polls, said his chief purpose of going up against Rao was to protect farmlands from acquisition.

Claiming the BRS intended to grab lands under the guise of a master plan, Revanth said the Congress would prevent acquisition for setting up industrial zones here if voted to power.

Addressing election campaigns in Bhiknoor, Rajampet and Chinna Mallareddy villages of the Kamareddy Assembly constituency on Saturday night, he accused the BRS government of creating hurdles for his campaign.

He praised farmers for launching a united front against the master plan and forcing the BRS government to put land acquisition on hold. However, Revanth cautioned farmers that the BRS kept it on hold only keeping Assembly polls in mind and it would go ahead with the acquisition of lands if elected to power.

He appealed to voters to defeat of BRS in Kamareddy if they wanted to protect their lands.

“Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his family members eyed fertile land in Kamareddy and they will grab the lands if elected. The agricultural fields in Gajwel, Siddipet and Sircilla Assembly constituencies represented by KCR, Harish Rao and KTR, were grabbed by the BRS leaders,” he said.

Revanth said: “I am contesting here to protect the lands of farmers from the BRS leaders. Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi directed Shabbir Ali and me to protect Kamareddy people from mishandling by Rao.”

Calling himself ‘Telangana’s watchdog’ — in an apparent rebuke to a speech earlier in the day by Rao in Jangaon — and Rao a ‘poisonous snake’, he said people should be cautious in his presence.

“Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao became stray and mad dogs to bite people in other states and Telangana. People will decide who is the watchdog or stray dog on November 30,” he said, promising that the Congress government would continue the Rythu Bandhu scheme and ensure 24-hour power supply.

Revanth Reddy said the Congress leaders would fight for them if BRS leaders threatened them. “BRS is planning to pay Rs 10,000 per each vote in the elections. I will not allow KCR and his family members to grab land worth Rs 2,000 crore in Kamareddy by spending Rs 200 crore,” he said.
