AP BJP executive to meet in Bhimavaram

Kakinada: The state executive of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will meet in Bhimavaram of West Godavari for two days from Monday, January 23, to discuss the political situation in Andhra Pradesh and create awareness among people of the state about the benefits extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led union government to AP.

As many as 250 representatives from throughout Andhra Pradesh will participate in the meeting to be attended by union ministers of state Bharati Pravin Pawar and Vellamvelly Muraleedharan, All Indian BJP general secretary Siva Prakash, co-in-charge of party’s AP affairs Sunil Deodhar, BJP state president Somu Veerraju, state general secretary Vetukuri Suryanarayana Raju and others.

According to sources in BJP, their party is at present in alliance with Jana Sena in AP. But Jana Sena chief and film star Pawan Kalyan appears to be moving closer to Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu. However, BJP is not keen on any alliance with TD. This issue is expected to figure on the agenda of the state executive meeting.

A BJP leader said, “PM Modi is keen on development of Andhra Pradesh. We will appeal to people of the state that they vote for BJP and join hands with Modi for developing the state and saving India. This aspect will be voiced in the meeting.”

There is, however, also dissatisfaction within cadre of AP after the state leadership. removed six district BJP presidents recently and appointed new presidents to other districts. There appear to be efforts to remove the remaining district presidents too.

The BJP state leadership defends the move saying the removal of DCC presidents is consequent on they completing their tenure. The leadership wants to bring in active leaders into the district bodies for benefitting the party in the coming elections.
