BJP to focus on strengthening party base in TS: Laxman
Hyderabad: The political situation in Telangana and the need for the BJP to come to power in the state to rid it of the corrupt family rule and provide a government that will work for the people was discussed in detail at the recent BJP national executive meeting in New Delhi, the party’s OBC Morcha president Dr K. Laxman said on Friday.
He said an action plan has been formed for Telangana to step up party activities and to strengthen the party from the grass-root level. The coming weeks will see several national leaders coming to the state to take part in various programmes, he said.
He said the national executive meeting also discussed the upcoming Assembly elections in nine states, including Telangana and how a double-engine sarkar — BJP in the state and at the Centre — would help states achieve better governance, progress and development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set a target of 405 seats wins in the next general election, he said, adding that Modi also complimented state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar for his Praja Sangrama Yatra and for galvanizing the party in the state.
Answering a question on whether there would be a change in the state party leadership, Laxman said “the Prime Minister’s praise for Sanjay during the national executive should be an indication of who will lead the BJP in Telangana.”
