HYDERABAD: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi alleged on Monday that unidentified miscreants attacked his official residence in the high-security zone on Ashoka Road in New Delhi. Claiming that it was the fourth such occurrence since 2014, he blamed “followers Nathuram Godse’s ideology” for the incident.
Owaisi, the Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad, was not present at his residence when the alleged attack occurred.
Owaisi, who returned late at night to the Capital after a two-day trip of poll-bound Rajasthan, alleged that the window panes of his residence were damaged as a consequence of stone-pelting. He shared a video of his house on Twitter.
Following the incident, the AIMIM leader informed the local police and urged them to undertake CCTV analysis in order to identify the perpetrators. "The area around my house has CCTV cameras, which can be accessible, and the perpetrators should be apprehended immediately," Owaisi said, perplexed as to how such vandalism could occur in such a high-security zone.
“My Delhi residence has been attacked again. This is the fourth incident since 2014. Earlier tonight, I returned from Jaipur & was informed by my domestic help that a bunch of miscreants pelted stones that resulted in broken windows. @DelhiPolice must catch them immediately,” Tweeted Owaisi, who escaped an alleged assassination attempt in February 2022.
At a news conference in the national capital, Owaisi stated that he had Z-Plus security cover and that the incident occurred in a "so-called high-security zone," which was a cause for concern. The police went to the residence and collected evidence after receiving a complaint from him. "I filed a complaint with the cops, who reached my residence. I am willing to die for my cause. They are attempting to achieve their objectives by violence. Do you think this will strengthen the nation,” he asked.
Further, the AIMIM president stated that he does not fear anyone and believes that if one is afraid, one should not enter politics, “especially in the Narendra Modi regime”. Owaisi, who has been the most vocal critic of the Bhiwani incident in which two Muslim youth were allegedly murdered by gau rashaks, dismissed the possibility that the attack was motivated by his views on the subject, although he did believe that “radicalised forces” were involved.
