Uttam demands suspension of SI for attacking Cong workers
HYDERABAD: Demanding action against the cops who are allegedly involved in thrashing Congress workers at the ‘behest’ of BRS leaders, Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy urged home minister Mahmood Ali to initiate action against the policemen found guilty of highhanded behaviour against the opposition leaders. He wrote to the minister demanding the SI’s suspension.
Alleging a ‘growing nexus’ between police officials and BRS leaders, Uttam Kumar Reddy, a former TPCC chief, said that several police officials were openly ‘operating’ like TRS activists and targeting Congress workers.
Citing an instance, he said that SI Krishna Reddy had attended the party meeting of BRS workers at Chintalapalem sarpanch’s residence in the Suryapet district.
“The same SI thrashed Congress workers from Nakkagudem, Peekla Naik Thanda and Thammavaram villages on different dates last week. The cop also filed false cases on tribals of Peekla Naik Thanda and Congress leaders of Thammavaram village in the last couple of weeks. The sub-Inspector should be suspended immediately,” he said in a media statement.
Reddy warned the police officials against targeting Congress activists to please their BRS bosses.
