AAP only option for Navjot Singh Sidhu, says wife Navjot Kaur
Chandigarh: A day after Navjot Singh Sidhu stunned the BJP by resigning from the Rajya Sabha, his wife Navjot Kaur said there was no room for his reconciliation with the BJP.
“His resignation means he has also quit the BJP and the only option left for him is to join the AAP,” she said. Ms Kaur, who is a BJP MLA from Amritsar East and chief parliamentary secretary (health) in the Punjab’s Akali-BJP government, said she herself had not quit her post.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who welcomed Sidhu’s decision as brave, on Tuesday appeared to suggest that the talk of his becoming the face of AAP in Punjab would be premature now.
When reminded about Sidhu’s criticism of him in the past, Kejriwal said “That’s not an issue. But whoever joins the AAP has to become a common man first.”
Meanwhile, Delhi BJP spokesperson Poonam Azad, wife of suspended BJP MP and former cricketer Kirti Azad, is likely to join the Aam Aadmi Party.
The politician, who is one of the representatives of the Poorvanchal community in the city, will resign from the BJP soon and join the AAP, according to sources close to Ms Azad.
