RSS meet mulls Lingayat religion issue
Hubballi: Amidst the raging controversy over issue of separate religion status to Lingayats and division of BJP votes among the community looming ahead of the Assembly elections, RSS has started a three-day meet here from Friday in the presence of Sarasanghachalak Mohan Bhagava.
The meeting has given more thrust for strengthening its base in north Karnataka region which is dominated by Lingayats. Apart from organization matters, several Sangh leaders have raised the Lingayat issue and sought clarification from the RSS chief and strategy to keep community votebank intact for the BJP.
All Sangh Parivar outfits, including RSS had plunged into active poll campaigning in the region to prop up BJP’s prospect during previous Lok Sabha elections. RSS had formed separate entities to attract particular groups of people employed in various occupations and also targeted the youth vote-bank.
This has helped the party to win all MP seats in Mumbai-Karnataka region.
