VHR objects to fines over flexis
Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday condemned the GHMC for issuing notices for erecting flexis on the eve of Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting and said it is highly objectionable and reeks of vendetta by the BRS government.
“Is it wrong to welcome Sonia Gandhi (former Congress president) who helped create Telangana State? Are BRS leaders not installing hoardings and banners even on their birthdays? The GHMC is acting in a partisan manner. We will move the court on this issue,” he said.
“We wanted to book some Metro Rail pillars for our campaigning but the BRS had booked them in advance denying us the space,” the senior leader said.
“I am appealing to the Congress cadre not to pay these challans. Do other parties not have the right to conduct their own campaign? Why were those fines imposed despite no complaints? We will hold a dharna before the GHMC. The fine imposed on the party is Rs 2,95,000 and individual leaders of the party have received notices ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000, he added.
