AP HC transfers Naidu's bail petition hearing to vacation bench

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of TD chief and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's bail petition in the Skill Development Corporation Scam case and scheduled the next hearing after the Dasara holidays.

The court has transferred the bail petition hearing to a vacation bench. No specific date was allocated for the hearing.

The High Court bench directed the state CID to submit the medical reports of the jailed Naidu before the vacation bench.

The request for transfer of the case to vacation bench and grant of interim bail for two weeks came from Naidu’s counsel, who urged the court to consider the age of the accused and that he was incarcerated for more than 40 days.

However, additional advocate general (AAG) Ponnavolu Sudhakar opposed the grant of interim bail and said a similar request by Naidu’s counsel Harish Salve had been dismissed by the Supreme Court.

In a separate development, the ACB court extended the remand of Chandrababu Naidu until Nov 1. The Rajahmundry prison officials presented Naidu through virtual mode on Thursday as the previous remand ended today.

The ACB judge asked Naidu whether he was facing any difficulties in the prison. Naidu said that he has suspicions about his security in the prison.
