To Attack Congress in Telangana, KTR Takes on Siddaramaiah

HYDERABAD: Taking a circuitous route to take potshots at the Congress government in Telangana, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday asked Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah whether the Congress government in Telangana can implement its promises — while responding to a fake video.

It all began with Rama Rao responding to a tweet posted on Monday showing a clip of Siddaramaiah in the Karnataka Assembly purportedly asking where the money would come from to implement the promises. Rama Rao reposted the tweet, saying “no money to deliver poll promises/guarantees says Karnataka CM! is this the future template for Telangana too after successfully hoodwinking people in the elections? Aren’t you supposed to do basic research and planning before making outlandish statements?”

Siddaramaiah hit back, asking Rama Rao if he knew why BRS the lost the polls. “Because you don’t even know how to verify what is fake and edited, and what is the truth. BJP creates fake edited videos and your party circulates them. Yours is a perfect B Team of BJP,” he said, and added a link to the full unedited video of his speech in the Karnataka Assembly.

To this, Rama Rao replied, saying, “We’ve lost the election because your party had shamelessly misled the people of Telangana with fake promises.” Saying the December 9 date, by when the Congress government’s promises were to be kept, had passed, Rama Rao listed the promises and asked Siddaramaiah if the latter would “care to explain why you lost election in three other states.”

The Telangana Congress joined in, saying Rama Rao, while in power, had made fake statements that Pravalika, a government job aspirant who died by suicide, did not apply for the Groups exam, then peddled a fake letter claiming it was written by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar about Foxconn being asked to move to Karnataka. “Even after you have been sent to your farm house because of your fake statements and campaign, will you not change?” the party asked Rama Rao.
