TD urges Centre to declare financial emergency for AP
KAKINADA: The opposition Telugu Desam has urged the Union Government to declare a financial emergency in Andhra Pradesh, saying the government is so stressed it is not in a position to pay salaries and pensions of government employees.
The TD spokesperson and former Pithapuram MLA SVSN Varma said the government employees approached the state governor and sought a law on timely payment of salaries.
“It is proven that chief minister Jagan Reddy is unable to run the government and the state and even the common fund and Provident Funds are being diverted to feed the welfare schemes.”
He said a financial emergency should be declared to save the state. Government employees were not able to celebrate the Sankranti festival with their relatives and family members happily, due to non-payment of their salaries.
The TD spokesperson said that while as chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu had given 42 per cent fitment to the employees. “TD would render its support to employees to press their issues. The state government diverted Rsss500 crore of the funds to other heads,” he said.
TD state organising secretaryVanamadi Venkateswara Rao said Jagan Reddy plunged the state into deep debts and he was not able to create wealth, but spent funds lavishly without thinking of the state's position.
