UP polls: Alliance bonhomie ends in Unchahar
Unchahar (Rae Bareli): The Congress-SP alliance that is reportedly flourishing across the state comes to a halt in Unchahar assembly segment of Rae Bareli.
The bonhomie that the alliance partners are going out of their way to display through joint road shows is missing here.
The Congress and the SP are contesting against each other and despite efforts by the leaders of the alliance the issue could not be resolved.
The Samajwadi candidate is the sitting MLA and UP minister Manoj Pandey and the Congress candidate is its former MLA Ajay Pal Singh.
Manoj Pandey comes with a bag of controversies. He was sacked by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav last year but made a comeback later because he is known as the Brahmin face of the Samajwadi Party.
Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav campaigned for Manoj Pandey on Monday but did not utter a word against the Congress.
Manoj Panedy, however, insists that his campaign focuses on the ‘Congress harao’ slogan, making its amply clear that his main rival is Ajay.
