Telangana officials: Take mandals as unit for new districts
Hyderabad: Collectors from most of the districts want mandals to be taken as a unit instead of Assembly segments when the new districts are created.
The district collectors submitted their proposals after the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration directed revenue officials to come up with Annexures I to VI for speeding up the process of formation of new districts.
Sources said that taking the Assembly constituency as a unit would lead to administrative problems in the future. Since the past week, all the district collectors, along with SPs and police commissioners, held several reviews on the matter.
For bifurcation of Ranga Reddy district, both joint collector-1 Rajit Kumar Sainy and Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand held meetings. As the government is contemplating division of the Cyberabad police commissionerate, Ranga Reddy district administration has sent proposals as per the convenience of new police commissionerates.
The district will be bifurcated in three —Ranga Reddy, Ibrahimpatnam and Vikarabad. Here, officials have sent proposals based on mandals.
Source said that Ranga Reddy will have Shankarpally, Moinabad, Balanagar, Serilingampally, Rajendranagar, Shamshabad, Malkajgiri, Medchal, Kisara, Ghatkesar, Shamirpet and Qutbullahpur mandals.
Similarly, Ibrahimpatnam district will have Saroornagar, Hayathnagar, Manchala, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur, Maheswaram, Yacharam and Uppal mandals and Vikarabad district will have Marpally, Mominpet, Nawabpet, Chevella, Dharur, Batwaram, Peddemul, Tandur, Basheerabad, Yalala, Doma, Ganded, Kulkacharla, Parigi, Pudur and Shabad mandals.
“A few modifications will be done in neighbouring mandals to Hyderabad as it will be bifurcated as Secunderabad, Hyderabad Central, Bhuvanagiri, Charminar and Golkonda districts,” the source said.
Adilabad district collector Jaganmohan sent proposals to the CCLA to consider Bellampally as a new district along with another name Mancherial.
He said in proposal that Bellampally has already been considered as police district as it has additional SP’s office and AR headquarters.
Considering representations from locals and agitations demanding district headquarters, collectors from Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Medak and Nizamabad have sent comprehensive proposals on the matter.
Khammam officials have sent proposals with Bhadradri district but the district headquarter was not yet revealed. The government is expected to announce the new districts on June 2, the state Formation Day.
