Upset over Santosh's induction, Anil Lad to meet Digvijay Singh in Delhi
Ballari: Apparently upset over the induction of his cousin brother, Kalaghatagi Congress MLA Santosh Lad into the state cabinet, Ballari city Congress MLA Anil H. Lad is meeting the Congress top brass in New Delhi to stake claim to a minister’s post.
The mining industrialist-turned politician, speaking to Deccan Chronicle over phone from New Delhi, said he had got an appointment with AICC general secretary Mr Digvijay Singh for a meeting on Tuesday.
To a question on why the Chief Minister did not give representation for Ballari district when the party has five MLAs from the district, he replied, “I don’t want to comment on this.”
When asked how his cousin Mr Santosh Lad suceeded in entering the cabinet when he is facing charges of involvement in illegal mining, Anil Lad said, “I am meeting the AICC general secretary and senior party leaders on Tuesday and will talk to them”.
Earlier in 2013, when Santosh Lad was inducted into the cabinet, Mr Anil Lad had openly questioned the inclusion of his cousin saying that he too is a partner in the family-run mining company and is facing illegal mining charges.
After being in the cabinet for six months, in November 2013, Mr Santosh Lad stepped down following the revealations made by Samaj Parivartan Samudaya, which is fighting illegal mining, about his involvement in illegal mining.
