Warangal: Konda Murali takes up poll gauntlet
WARANGAL: IT minister K.T. Rama Rao’s recent visit has created a political stir in the Warangal district. After former MLC and Congress leader Konda Muralidhar Rao came down heavily on KTR over his critical comments against him, Parkal MLA Challa Dharmareddy and Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narendar counter-attacked Konda Murali and his wife, the former minister Konda Sureka.
When Narendar alleged that people of Warangal East constituency would never encourage those like Konda Murali and Sureka “who promoted gundaism and rowdyism”, the Parkal MLA Dharma Reddy on Monday challenged Konda Murali to contest against him and visit Parkal if had the guts.
Holding a press meeting in Warangal City on Tuesday, Konda Murali accepted the challenge from Dharma Reddy and asked him to fix a time and date so that he would reach there and teach him a fitting lesson.
He also said that if the Congress party leadership permitted him and his wife Konda Sureka to contest in the two constituencies, then he would do so and defeat both Narendar in the Warangal East constituency and Dharma Reddy in Parkal. “I know the history of both Dharma Reddy and Narendar and if they try to play with me, I will show them their place,” Murali said.
“People are very well aware of Dharma Reddy and his past. He used to sell pipes. With the support extended by Kadiyam Srihari, he got various posts in Telugu Desam Party. By indulging in many irregularities and by looting public money, Dharma Reddy was able to prosper himself,” he alleged.
During KTR’s tour to Parkal on June 17, MLA Dharma Reddy said that opposition leaders were afraid of contesting against BRS MLAs.
