Experienced Congress leaders to steer Munugode by-poll campaign
ADILABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is mobilising experienced leaders from throughout the state as in-charges of booths to manage to campaign on behalf of the party in Munugode assembly constituency, which is going for a by-election.
The by-poll is set to happen after sitting Congress MLA from Munugode Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned from his seat to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He will now contest as BJP nominee from the same constituency.
Congress is mobilising all its resources to retain the seat for the party. It is hence mobilising to Munugode all its experienced leaders who have a record of running efficient campaigns for the party. TPCC state general secretary Gandrath Sujatha from Adilabad district will be taking care of booth numbers 156 and 157 in mandal headquarters of Munugode.
She spoke to Deccan Chronicle before taking charge of the booths on behalf of Congress. According to her, the aim of all leaders converging on to the constituency is to create a political atmosphere in favour of Congress, which held Munugode before Rajagopal Reddy resigned from the seat and shifted to BJP.
The Congress campaign will be in full flow immediately after Dasara Navaratrulu, with party committees being formed for each booth. Congress leaders from throughout the state, who have been given charge of two booths each, will take second-rung leaders and their associates with them for the campaign.
Each leader will stay within the villages or towns covered by the two booths and campaign intensively. They will also form booth committees with 25 active Congress second-rung leaders who will campaign in their respective areas and mobilise voters on behalf of the Congress so that the party can retain the seat held by it.
Booth in-charges will bear all expenditures to be incurred during the campaign, including food and accommodation for the 25 members of the booth committees.
