Somu Veerraju gives ultimatum to state on funds to panchayats

He said the YSRC sarpanches were also staging agitation for release of funds to Grama Panchayats for their development

KAKINADA: BJP state president Somu Veerraju on Tuesday gave an ultimatum to the government about release of funds for Panchayats. He told the media in Eluru that if the government failed to release the funds to Grama Panchayats before October 2, the BJP would start an agitation.

He said the YSRC sarpanches were also staging agitation for release of funds to Grama Panchayats for their development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had increased the funds for panchayats by 40 per cent, but the YSRC government was diverting the funds and cheating the panchayats, he alleged.

The BJP chief urged the government to release a white paper on the releasing of funds to Panchayats. He said the liquor mafia, land mafia, sand mafia and sandals mafia are ruling the state. “The former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu as also present CM Jagan Reddy have become zeroes whereas Modi is now a hero,” he said.

He said the state government is not able to develop roads and the rural roads are being laid with NREGS funds. In cities, roads are being developed with AMRUT Scheme funds, he alleged.

He made it clear the BJP would continue its alliance with the Jana Sena. The central government was releasing funds to Polavaram Project, but the TD and YSRC governments were working more for commissions, he said.
