Assembly polls: BJP\'s CEC meets to decide candidates
New Delhi: The central election committee (CEC) of the BJP met on Friday to discuss the names of the remaining candidates for the Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh Assembly polls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the meeting chaired by BJP president J.P. Nadda, Union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, among other members of the CEC.
According to sources, this could be the last meeting of the BJP’s CEC ahead of the impending Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Until now, the CEC has already met three times.
Earlier in the day, Rajasthan core group leaders met the BJP president. The core group leaders from Telangana also met Mr Nadda.
Besides the BJP top brass, others who attended the CEC meeting included national general secretary organisation B.L. Santhosh, former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, Rajasthan election incharge and Union minister Pralhad Joshi, Union ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Kailash Chaudhary, Satish Poonia, C.P. Joshi, Arun Singh, Kuldeep Bishnoi, Rajendra Rathore and co-election incharge Nitin Patel.
BJP leaders from Telangana, including incharge Tarun Chugh, state president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, K. Laxman, D.K. Aruna and other leaders, also attended the meeting.
