Maharashtra government scraps outsourcing decision, blamed MVA for it

Mumbai: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday blamed the previous MVA government headed by Uddhav Thackeray for doing recruitment in the government on contract basis. Saying that the MVA government should apologise to the people for the move, he announced that the previous government’s decision will be scrapped.

The opposition parties in Maharashtra have been slamming the Eknath Shinde-led Mahayuti government for hiring employees on contract basis in the state government. NCP chief Sharad Pawar also targeted the current dispensation over contractual hiring in the state claiming that there will be no reservation in the contract hiring.

Speaking on this, Fadnavis said the Sushilkumar Shinde-led Congress and NCP government was ‘janak’ of outsourcing employees in the state government.

Those, who are blaming the current dispensation for outsourcing employees for the state government, are responsible for this and they need to be exposed, the DCM said. “The draft of RFP for empanelling agencies for outsourcing group C and D employees was prepared in July 2020 during MVA's regime led by Uddhav Thackeray and with the blessings of Sharad Pawar,” he added.

Fadnavis also alleged that the rate, which was fixed by the MVA government, was 25 to 30 percent higher for outsourcing the employees. "When this proposal was brought before us, we asked the administration to bring the revised proposal by slashing rates before the Cabinet," he said.

If the opposition parties did not tender an apology to the public, the ruling parties will take this issue before the public and expose their double standard on the contractual hiring, he said.

According to the DCM, around 6,000 personnel are presently working in the state government. They would continue their works till their contract tenure.
