Congress Files Complaints with ECI Over BRS' Scamgress' Ad

Hyderabad: The Congress, taking a strong objection to the BRS for allegedly issuing newspaper advertisements dubbing the national party ‘Scamgress’, lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday.

It also complained against BRS working president and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao for holding a meeting with government job aspirants on the premises of T-Works in Raidurg, as it belongs to the state government and thereby, flouted the model code of conduct (MCC) stipulated by the ECI.

Detailing the BRS’ advertisement in a complaint to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, the Congress alleged that the BRS gave full-page first-page advertisements in all newspapers alleging that the Congress had indulged in scams to the tune of Rs 48,20,69,00,00,000.

“Is the above advertisement certified by the MSME or not? How has the MSME committee approved this content, which is against the model code of conduct? If this is not approved by the MSME committee, please take criminal action against K. Chandrashekar Rao and K.T. Rama Rao, the president and working president of BRS, respectively,” the Congress said in its complaint.

The Congress urged the ECI to direct the BRS to carry similar full-page first-page advertisements in newspapers expressing its regret over the claims against Congress. Further, it sought a ban on all forms of advertising by the BRS for the elections.
