Legislative Council chairman Horatti writes to Siddaramaiah
Dharwad: As the anticipated winter session approaches in Belagavi, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj S Horatti has penned a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging key ministers to ensure a smooth and meaningful legislative session.
The session is scheduled from December 4 to 15 at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.
In his letter addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, agriculture minister Chaluvaraya Swamy, revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda, and education minister S Madhu Bangarappa, chairman Horatti expressed the need for a more organized and purposeful approach during the session.
The chairman's letter highlighted that previous sessions had witnessed various organizations staging protests and satyagrahas near the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, advocating for diverse demands across departments like agriculture, education and literacy, and revenue.
To address these issues, the Chairman recommended Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to direct his cabinet colleagues to convene a meeting with the heads of the concerned organizations before the session begins. This meeting would facilitate a thorough discussion of their demands, with a concerted effort to find resolutions.
He asked the Chief Minister to instruct the relevant ministers to appeal to the organization leaders, urging them not to stage dharnas outside the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha during the session.
The chairman's letter suggested that if the number of protests outside Suvarna Vidhana Soudha decreases during the winter session and meaningful discussions on common issues take place inside the House, holding a session of the Legislative Assembly in north Karnataka would be meaningful and bring reputation to the government, a press statement from the Chairman's office stated.
