Poll tempo picks up at Amberpet, BRS leaders join Congress
Hyderabad: The electoral battle has intensified in Amberpet constituency with several leaders from the BRS shifting loyalty to the Congress, and senior Congress leaders joining the election campaign of Dr Rohin Reddy, the Congress candidate.
In a major blow to the BRS, Diddi Ram Babu, former GHMC floor leader and Barkatpura corporator, has joined the Congress. He is extensively campaigning for Rohin Reddy in Barkatpura where the residence of TS BJP chief Union minister G. Kishan Reddy is located.
Former corporators Gariganti Sridevi (Nallakunta) and Puli Jagan (Amberpet) and other BRS leaders have joined the Congress in the presence of TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy after the ticket was announced to Dr Rohin Reddy.
Besides, senior Congress leaders V. Hanumantha Rao and K. Jana Reddy and Imran Pratapgarhi, MP and chairman of the Congress’ minority department have also joined the campaign on behalf of the Congress’ candidate along with Youth Congress and NSUI leaders. Rohin Reddy's family is also campaigning for him.
"The response of people in the Amberpet constituency is overwhelming. They are very impressed with the education qualification of the Congress candidate. I am also a doctor and when I interacted with people during door-to-door campaigns, they expressed their happiness mentioning that educated people in politics are a blessing," said Dr Sonika Reddy, a relative of Rohin Reddy.
She joined the Congress cadre in distributing pamphlets that had the party’s Six Guarantees printed on them and explained the benefits of schemes. She was campaigning in Barkatpura.
Kishan Reddy along with his cadre are seeking votes for the BJP candidate Krishna Yadav. The Congress and BJP candidates have alleged that BRS MLA Kaleru Venkatesh did not develop the constituency. Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav is campaigning for the BRS candidate.
