Former BRS Minister Finds Fault with White Paper
HYDERABAD: Former power minister G. Jagadish Reddy on Thursday said that the debts taken for the power department were used to improve the transmission and distribution (TD) system and take up new projects. This had made the state a sought-after destination for investors, he said.
Speaking after the Congress government tabled a White Paper on the sector, Jagdish Reddy said half of the debt taken amounting to '50,000 crore was repaid. He said that the AP government had taken over the Sileru power project by AP to deny Telangana state.”
He said the power station was poor earlier. The situation improved after then Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao reviewed the situation for three days and took measures. “After giving 24-hour power to the industry and the domestic sector we improved the supply to the agriculture sector. The per capita usage of electricity increased in the state,” he said.
He welcomed a probe by a judge and said: “If no wrongdoing is found the ruling party will have to face the music for making false allegations of Rs 20,000 crores in power deals.”
