AP at forefront in welfare, investments: Deputy Chief Minister

TIRUPATI: Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayana Swamy asserted that Andhra Pradesh is at the forefront in terms of welfare and investments in the country. Further, the Nadu-Nedu scheme that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy started has become an example for other states.

Addressing a press conference in Chittoor on Tuesday, he underlined that the gross state domestic product (GSDP) had been 11.43 per cent higher than the national GDP in the previous fiscal year. In skill and employment training, AP is ahead of other states.

The Deputy CM pointed out that Jagan Mohan Reddy has been extending welfare schemes to all sections of people irrespective of caste, creed or political affiliations. Poverty is the only criterion for sanctioning welfare.

Narayana Swamy said: “CM Jagan considers the party’s manifesto as a sacred document. He has been implementing it completely. The assurances made in the manifesto are the result of his personal observations during the padayatra he had undertaken to study and end people's woes.”

The Deputy CM hailed the Chief Minister for continuing his policy of social justice by allocating the lion's share of seats to Backward Classes (BCs) in MLC elections. He said that for the total 18 seats, YSRC is fielding 11 BCs, four OCs, two SCs and one ST candidate.

“During the Telugu Desam regime, most seats went to the people from the Kamma community. TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu never sent his party men from the BC community to Legislative Council, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha,” he observed.
