BRS and BJP activists clash in front of Telangana Assembly
HYDERABAD: BRS and BJP activists clashed at the Gun Park in front of the Assembly while paying tribute to Telangana martyrs at the memorial on Thursday, the last day of the 21-day state formation decennial celebrations.
Hundreds of activists from both parties approached from opposite sides and tried to be the first to enter Gun Park. The shoving and pushing soon led to clashes.
After the police separated them, the activists sat on a dharna. BRS activists shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP workers against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
“Our teams pacified the two sides and allowed the activists to enter the memorial one after the other,” said M. Venkateshwarlu, DCP, central zone.
More than 15 activists from both parties were taken into preventive custody and released later.
