Jana Sena corporator alleges corruption in GVMC UCD wing
Visakhapatnam: A Jana Sena corporator has alleged corruption in the Urban Community Development (UCD) wing of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).
Corporator Peetala Murthy Yadav made the allegations during the Spandana programme held by the GVMC mayor and commissioner on Monday.
Yadav said that the UCD wing has become a centre for corruption and that the project director, Papinaidu, and additional commissioner, Y. Srinivasa Rao, are violating the rules.
He alleged that four government employees had become beneficiaries of TIDCO houses in Adarsh village, Jalaripeta, Pedda Waltair, and that out of 120 TIDCO houses in the village, 72 had been given to people who had previously been beneficiaries of TIDCO houses.
Yadav also said that there is an order not to run night food courts in Jail Road, but that no action has been taken. He also alleged that bribes had been taken in lakhs for community organiser jobs and that UCD officials had colluded with an individual firm in the name of pulses and rice businesses and collected Rs 2.5 crore from Dwcra women.
Yadav demanded the suspension of the two UCD officials.
