KCR relying on corrupt' funds: BJP

Hyderabad: The BJP on Monday pounced on an alleged previous admission by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao — that many of his MLAs were taking a 30 per cent commission from Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries — to claim that the BRS was banking on money power to win elections as the party retained the majority of its incumbent MLAs in the list announced by Chandrashekar Rao.

“KCR is relying on money power to try and win the elections,” state BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said.

“By repeating a majority of MLAs, KCR has conceded that in a losing election, his only option is to rely on the money power of his MLAs, who have amassed massive amounts of wealth through land grabbing and other illegal activities in the past five years,” Kishan Reddy said.

“KCR,” Kishan Reddy said, “through his list, showed that BRS will not return to power and that he is totally rattled by the rise of BJP in Telangana state.”

He pointed out that Chandrashekar Rao’s declaration that between BRS and AIMIM, they will win 29 seats in the Hyderabad region, further shows that “in his desperation to get the communal MIM to win, KCR is trying to split the anti-MIM vote by fielding candidates on the instructions of Majlis party that will further help the MIM cause.”

Kishan Reddy was joined by Bandi Sanjay Kumar, a former state BJP president and currently a national general secretary of the party, who castigated the BRS and Chandrashekar Rao.

“People must take note of how KCR gave tickets to corrupt MLAs. What KCR has said by giving them tickets is that BRS leaders will have a further free licence to try and loot the state in future and a green signal to the corrupt BRS leaders to use their ill-gotten wealth to try and buy votes,” Bandi Sanjay said.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha member and Telangana election incharge Prakash Javadekar said: “Although KCR promised ‘neellu, nidhulu, niyamakalu (water, funds, jobs),’ all he has done is made ‘brashtachar, parvivaarvad, vishwasghaat (corruption, nepotism, and betrayal),’ the watchwords of the BRS government. This is the sum and substance of nine years of BRS rule in Telangana.”

Coming under fire from the BJP was also the decision of the BRS chief to include only seven women candidates in his party list.

Kishan Reddy said it has now become clear that demands by BRS MLC and Chief Minister’s daughter K. Kavitha for 33 per cent reservations for women were nothing more than empty rhetoric.

Party spokesperson Rani Rudrama said: “All Kavitha was doing by making this demand was to desperately try and shift attention from her connections to the Delhi liquor scam.”

Also declaring an end to BRS’ run in the government soon were party national vice-president D.K. Aruna, national general secretary Tarun Chugh and the party’s Rajya Sabha member and Parliamentary Board member Dr K. Laxman.
