Telangana BJP's KCR countdown clock stops functioning
HYDERABAD: Launched amidst much fanfare in June last year, the BJP’s ‘KCR countdown clock’ erected on the party’s state headquarters compound wall, which the party had claimed would keep track of the days left for the BRS government in Telangana, is dead for some time now.
The clock was part of the BJP’s ‘Salu Dora-Selavu Dora’ campaign targeting Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and came when the then state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar had managed to create enthusiasm about the BJP that even the party’s central leadership took note of.
Incidentally, even the BJP’s online ‘Salu Dora-Selavu Dora’ campaign which initially had the clock running, no longer has the countdown on.
Asked why the clock was not working, none in the BJP had any clue. Some said there was some problem with the electronics. “We have much bigger issues to deal with and problems to tackle than worrying about a display clock,” a senior party leader.
With the perception that the BJP is no longer in contention for the coming Assembly elections and is lagging behind Congress and BRS parties, the leader said “We are yet to get our house in order, get our candidates finalized, and launch an effective campaign. The clock is the least of our worries.”
