Unidentified Assailants Kill Local BJP Leader After Meeting with Raman Singh

Raipur: A local tribal BJP leader in Naxal-affected district of Mohla-Manpur- Ambagarh Cowk district in Chhattisgarh was shot dead by unidentified assailants late on Friday night, police said.

The slain BJP activist Birjhu Taram, who was general secretary of local mandal unit of the party, was shot at by some unidentified assailants in Sankheda village under Arundhi police limits in the district when he was returning home after attending an election meeting of BJP national vice-president and former chief minister Raman Singh at Mohla, police said.

He died on the spot. He was the fifth BJP activist to be killed in the state in the last eight months.

He blamed the state government for its failure to provide security to the BJP leaders who were in the hit-list of Naxals.
