Telangana: JC Diwakar Reddy, K Jana Reddy, mull retiring from active politics
Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in the TS Legislative Assembly K. Jana Reddy, Telugu Desam MP J.C. Diwakar Reddy and some other senior leaders are planning to retire from politics after their present terms end.
These seniors feel that they do not fit in present-day politics and opine that it is better for them to make way for the next generation.
On Wednesday, Mr Diwakar Reddy, Congress MP M.A. Khan, MLA T Jeevan Reddy and others met in Mr Jana Reddy’s chambers in the Assembly where the topic shifted to their future.

Mr Diwakar Reddy told Mr Jana Reddy that he has decided to retire from politics and will not contest the next elections. He said “If I contest the next election, I will win definitely, there is no doubt about my victory. I have been in politics since the last 40 years, but achieved nothing. It’s time for me to take rest in my village.”
Mr Diwakar Reddy then asked Mr Jana Reddy what he has achieved in his 40 years of public life. Mr Jana Reddy agreed with Mr Diwakar Reddy on retirement from politics.
At this point Mr Jeevan Reddy said, “It seems 1981 batch leaders are planning to retire from politics”
When Mr Jana Reddy asked Mr Diwakar Reddy if he would contest for the Rajya Sabha, the latter replied that he was no longer interested in continuing in politics.
Mr Jana Reddy said that they should not force their sons to come into politics after they retire.
“If they (their sons) are interested they will come into politics, we should not exert pressure on them,” he said. To this, Mr Diwakar Reddy said that he wouldn’t force his son Pavan Reddy to enter politics after he retires.
Interestingly, in the last elections, Mr Jana Reddy had lobbied for his son Raghu Reddy be given the party ticket to contest from Miryalaguda Assembly seat.
After Mr Diwakar Reddy’s retirement his son Pavan Reddy is likely to contest in next elections, according to his followers.
