Blood donation, plantation mark CM’s birthday
Tirupati: The rank and file of the YSR Congress party of Tirupati district celebrated the 50th birthday of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in a big way by organising blood donation camps, plantation drives and celebratory cake cuttings.
At a programme held at Tirupati, party MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy launched the celebrations by cutting a cake. About 1,500 persons voultarily donated blood at the camps organised in the city. Social outreach programs like sapling plantation and distribution of free food were organised at various parts across the constituency.
Srikalahasti MLA Biyyapu Madhusudan Reddy cut the cake wishing the chief minister a happy birthday. On this occasion, he took part in a mass housewarming ceremony at the newly-constructed houses at Jagananna Colony in Thottambedu mandal. He stated that the CM has approved 25,000 housing plots in Srikalahasti constituency.
The Board for Community Development through Education (BCDE) at S.V. University, in collaboration with the AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) and Brahma Kumaris, Tirupati unit, organised a mass plantation drive 'Kalpataru' on the premises of Gnana Pradha Venkateswara Swamy temple to mark Jagan's 50th birthday. Vice Chancellor Prof K. Raja Reddy, Rector Prof V Srikanth Reddy, Registrar Prof OMD Hussain planted saplings.
AP State Universities Employees’ Federation, which is affiliated to YSRTUC, conducted a blood donation camp at SV University.
Meanwhile, Dr YSR Prajaprasthanam Seva Trust and Kasturba Gandhi Kendra Trust, under the aegis of P.C. Rayulu distributed food packets to the poor on the occasion.
