Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that the Congress came to power in Telangana, thanks to the blessings of the people of the state and the struggles of 30 lakh unemployed youth.
He said that the state government will soon issue job notifications to fill two lakh posts as promised during the Assembly poll campaign. He said that they will strive to turn Telangana into a model state.
Reddy was speaking at a commemoration of party stalwart G. Venkataswamy on his ninth death anniversary at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College in Bagh Lingampally here on Friday.
Addressing students and alumni of the college, Reddy said, "How much we earn is not important but how much we give back to society matters more. With this in mind, Venkatswamy, popularly known as Kaka, started this great institution in 1973. It has educated over one lakh students in the last 50 years."
He said that the former CWC member gifted his house to the Congress party in Delhi, from where the party has been functioning for decades now.
"We are trying to make Telangana an ideal state in the country. The presumption that politics is all about money should be brought to an end. Today, even a common man living in Indiramma's house is becoming an MLA," he said.
The Chief Minister expressed his admiration for Venkatswamy's legacy, drawing parallels between the late Congress leader's sons, G. Vivek and G. Vinod, both recently elected as legislators, whom likened to Ramayan’s Lava and Kusa.
Revanth Reddy eulogised Venkatswamy's dedication towards fulfilling his social responsibility in nation-building, crediting his family for their commitment to education without profit motives.
Encouraging a goal-oriented approach and setting specific objectives and working towards them leads to success, he said.
