Tussle to Upstage Minister as YSRC Kalyandurg Candidate

ANANTAPUR: Opponents of minister Ushasri Charan are projecting former ZPTC member B. Thippeswamy as ruling YSRC’s candidate from the Kalyandurg assembly constituency.

Ushasri had succeeded in getting the YSRC ticket in the last elections and won against her TDP rival. She subsequently went on to become a minister in the second cabinet expansion, after then minister M. Shankara Narayana, MLA from Penukonda, had been removed from the ministry.

However, Ushasri has been facing allegations of land grabbing from her own party members. It is alleged that she is harassing YSRC workers in Kalyandurg segment by foisting cases against them with the help of police.

Further, she is also having differences with Anantapur MP Talari Rangaiah, who is encouraging her opponents to rebel against her.

It is in this context that former ZPTC member Thippeswamy’s name is doing rounds as the next YSRC candidate from Kalyandurg.

A senior leader from Kambadur said the minister should not be nominated again as YSRC candidate from Kalyandurg. Otherwise, the party will suffer.

Minister Ushasri, however, says she is busy in Vijayawada dealing with the strike by Anganwadi workers. She said the party high command has not informed her about denying her the Kalyandurg ticket or changing her constituency.
