Give BJP a chance, says BJP president Amit Shah
Palakkad: BJP president Amit Shah has asked the Kerala voters to give the BJP a chance as an alternative to the LDF and the UDF “which were practising adjustment politics to cover up their corruption.”
“The LDF government has been selectively implementing the Supreme Court orders on matters of faith,” he said addressing the party workers at the Kotta Maidan here on Friday evening. The meeting was held as a part of working out the party strategy for the general elections in the state.
Referring to the Sabarimala issue, he asked, “why is it that the government is keen on implementing court orders regarding only one religion? Nearly 2,000 people who took part in the Sabarimala protest are in jail and 30,000 people are facing cases over the SC verdict,”he said.
Citing the Supreme Court restrictions on using loudspeakers at places of worship, he asked in how many mosques the government had implemented the order.
He also said that while the 13th financial commission had allotted Rs 45,393 crore for Kerala during the UPA rule, as much as Rs 1.98 lakh crore was given by the BJP-led NDA government.
“The NDA government allotted so much funds though there is no BJP Lok Sabha MP from Kerala. It has to be noted that during the UPA regime, there were a handful of Union ministers from Kerala,” he said.
PTI adds:
Shah took potshots and attacked the proposed ‘Mahagathbandhan’ of opposition parties and said if it comes to power, there will be a new prime minister on each day of the week.
He said the ‘grand alliance’ was not good for the country. The mahagathbandhan was just a front of the corrupt people to grab power and does not have any ideology, leader or programme, Shah said.
“I will tell you who will become the Prime Minister if the Opposition comes to power. On Monday, Akhilesh Yadav will be the Prime Minister, on Tuesday it will be Mayawati. Wednesday will be for Chandrababu Naidu and Thursday for Deve Gowda and Mamata Banerjee will the Prime Minister on Friday. On Saturday it will be DMK leader M. K. Stalin. On Sunday, since it is a holiday, there will no Prime Minister," Shah said.
