K Chandrasekhar Rao fifth CM to present budget for next fiscal
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has joined the club of Chief Ministers who have introduced the Budget in state Assemblies by themselves rather than leaving it to the finance ministers to do so.
Mr Rao is the fifth Chief Minister to present the annual Budget for the year 2019-20. Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kum-araswamy and Chhatti-sgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presented Budgets on February 8 in their respective Asse-mblies. Goa Chief Mini-ster Manohar Parrikar introduced the Budget on January 30 and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur introduced Budget on Febru-ary 9. Mr Rao presented the TS Budget on Friday.
In the past also, several Chief Ministers have introduced the Budgets in their respective state Assemblies. In erstwhile Andhra pradesh, the first Chief Minister Mr Bejawada Gopal Reddy, introduced the the 1956-57 Budget and the 1957-58 Budget. Later, Mr Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, Mr Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy and Mr K. Rosaiah as Chief Ministers holding the finance portfolio introduced the Budgets.
In Kerala, UP and Rajasthan too, the CMs have presented the Budgets in the past.
