Over 250 Cong leaders from State to participate in Plenary

HYDERABAD: Over 250 Congress leaders including those belonging to the AICC from the state, PCC and DCCs as well as co-opted members and special invitees would be attending the party plenary to be held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, from Friday.

Senior leaders like V. Hanumantha Rao who is aspiring for a seat in the Congress Working Committee (CWC), has already reached Raipur. So did junior party leaders who would have to find accommodation.

"This plenary is happening after the successful completion of Bharat Jodo Yatra which has given a clear-cut direction to the Congress workers on how to take up important issues in the public domain,” K.C. Venugopal, AICC general secretary, told party leaders in a communication. “We have raised (the issue of) unemployment, we have raised issues of price rise and we have raised the clear-cut divisive agenda of the BJP government."

"We have reached the city a day before the event began. Leaders like Hanumantha Rao have booked hotels here. But we travelled by train and took hotels,” said a party leader. “The main leaders are in accommodations scattered all over the city.”

Former TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy is part of the political affairs committee.

The session will start with the steering committee meeting, which will review the resolutions finalised by the drafting committees. In the evening the subject committee will approve various resolutions.

The plenary for the delegates will start on February 25, for which the detailed programme will be finalised by the steering committee on Friday.
