CLP leader's Padayatra completes 100 days in Telangana
HYDERABAD: Congress Legislature Party leader Bhatti Vikramarka completed 100 days his People’s March padayatra on Friday, walking with few breaks, for illness, despite trying diverse weather conditions. He has covered 1,150 km so far.
The padayatra that started from Pippiri in Adilabad has continued almost non-stop, covering over 750 villages in 15 districts and 32 constituencies during the course of which Bhatti has met thousands of people, listened to their woes and seen first-hand the difficulties they face.
Bhatti’s padayatra has followed the lines of the padayatra undertaken by late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy in undivided Andhra Pradesh. Rajasekhar Reddy during his Praja Prasthanam learnt about the reasons for the suicide of farmers and implemented free power and other schemes for their welfare. Bhatti has seen for himself the injustice meted out to farmers due to the Dharani portal.
He has largely focused the padayatra on what the Congress would do for people if it came to power. He has stated that his one mission was to bring back Indiramma Rajyam and prosperity and happiness to every household.
After the Karnataka elections, Bhatti’s padayatra has drawn a stronger response had this caused some worries for the BRS and the BJP.
On Friday, former Maoists met the CLP leader and extended their support to the padayatra. Ninety persons including former Maoists Hari Bushan, Sunita, Sai Reddy, Renuka and Manjula submitted a representation of people's issues to Bhatti.
