Opposition Parties Can't Digest PM Modi's Growing Popularity: JP Nadda

BHAWANIPATNA (ODISHA): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda on Friday mocked at the Opposition meeting in Patna and said that the leaders of different parties participating in the event had no principle or ideology other than opposing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as they are afraid of his growing popularity.

“PM Narendra Modi Ji is highly admired and loved by the leaders from across the world. While some call him ‘hero,’ others call him ‘boss.’ A few others also call him a reformer and a great patriot! However, it's unfortunate that Congress is not able to digest this all. When the whole world is praising Modi Ji and looking forward to his leadership for peace and progress, there are some leaders who cannot tolerate his growing popularity. Hence, they are vainly trying to defame him,” Mr Nadda said while addressing a public rally here.

Stating that the Opposition leaders were using slang words like 'illiterate,' 'chaiwala,' 'neech' (low), 'snake' and many other words and terms to show the PM in a poor light, the BJP chief said, “They must understand that the more they cast aspersions at the PM, the greater will be his popularity.”

The BJP president said when the global leaders and eminent personalities recognised PM Modi as their idol; the Opposition parties were busy targeting him for their own “cheap” political goals.

“We have all seen the high degree of positive response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first state official visit to the United States. Nobel prize winner Paul Romer, after his meeting with the PM, said he learnt a lot from Mr Modi about what India is doing. The US President Joe Biden is also all praise for the PM. The senators and representatives who listened to the PM’s address to the joint session of the US Congress were overwhelmed by his wisdom and vision for the world,” said Mr Nadda.

Taking a swipe at Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and former CM Lalu Prasad Yadav, the BJP president said these two leaders who were in the past thrown into the prisons by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, are now joining hands with the Congress.

He also fired salvos at former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray saying he had compromised with his father Balasaheb Thackeray’s principle of Hindutva.

“Balasaheb Thackeray had announced that he would shut down his shop if he ever faced the compulsion of joining hands with the Congress. He had never compromised. But now his son Uddhav Thackeray has closed his shop by joining hands with the Congress,” said Mr Nadda.

The BJP chief claimed the BJP would win more seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, besides forming a government in Odisha by replacing the “corrupt” ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) led by CM Naveen Patnaik.
