Be Wary of Cong and BJP, KCR Cautions Voters
Hyderabad: Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday said that there will be some major announcements on what his government intends to do for the people at a public meeting in October. He also hinted that the BRS government, depending on the availability of resources, will explore possibilities of increasing benefits from the myriad people-friendly welfare schemes and programmes.
“Running a government is like running a family. We started Kalyana Lakshmi with Rs 50,000 and now we give Rs 1,00,016 to each beneficiary. We doubled the pension amount to Rs 2,000. We will keep increasing the amounts as and when the government is in a position to do so. There will be major announcements at our public meeting in October,” he said.
Rao was addressing a public meeting at Medak, where he cautioned people against falling for aapada mokkula (SOS pleadings) of the Congress.
“Elections are round the corner; do not get confused. Differentiate between what is true and what is false and act accordingly. Don’t fall for traps and try to pragmatically assess who truly works for the people. The Congress had made huge promises in Karnataka and now it cannot implement even one of them. They are not able to give even seven hours of power to farmers and they are asking for one chance in Telangana state? Why?” Rao asked.
Though the Chief Minister and BRS leaders have been mostly attacking the Congress, on Wednesday, Rao took an aim at the BJP.
He said, “The BJP says install meters for motors. Our state suffered a loss of Rs 25,000 crore by not installing meters for agricultural connections. But we remained defiant. Today, we are providing 24-hour free power.”
He said that he was handing over the responsibility for full and complete development of Medak district to finance minister T. Harish Rao, as ‘Harish Rao has the potential to turn Medak into another Siddipet’ with respect to overall development.
The Chief Minister’s comment comes in the wake of severe criticism of Harish Rao by party MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao, who warned of teaching a lesson to the minister in Medak district. Incidentally, Hanumanth Rao was given the party ticket despite the trenchant criticism of Harish Rao.
The BRS chief praised Padma Devender Reddy, the Medak MLA who has been renominated, calling her a hard worker, who the people should elect with a huge majority in the coming polls.
