Kerala agriculture minister V.S Sunil Kumar has been tested positive for COVID-19. He is the third member of the Kerala cabinet who contracted the coronavirus. Health authorities have asked the minister’s staff and those who came into contact with him to go under quarantine.
Earlier, finance minister T.M Thomas Isaac and Industries minister E.P Jayarajan had tested positive for the infection.
Meanwhile, the state reported 4125 fresh cases on Tuesday taking the total active cases to 40382. Among the new cases, 3463 patients contracted the virus through local transmission. Source of infection of 412 persons is yet to be identified. As many as 87 health workers tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. With 19 more deaths, the total number of casualties due to virus infection stands at 572. The test positivity rate (TPR) in the state is also on the increase.
